Biography

Early on, I recognized the need for a Plan-B in order to realize my goal of a career in sports:

From 2003 to 2011, I received a legal education at the Westfälische Wilhelms University in my hometown of Münster, which gave me the tools I needed to work successfully as a consultant. Especially during my studies, I always made sure to think outside the box and beyond the thick red books. For example, I spent a summer as part of the Strandsport team on Juist and spent two years as part of a five-person team of business managers managing the JuWi-Fest organized.

After my legal clerkship with stations in Düsseldorf and New York, I first worked as a lawyer for 9 years and gained experience.

With basketball regularly in my hands and sports always on my mind, I took the first accredited master's degree in sports law at the University of Giessen/SpoHo Cologne while working in 2017. The Master title LL.M. Sports Law I received in February 2019, during which time I laid the foundation for my extensive network in sports and gained intensive insights into the sport.

From October 2019 to October 2021, I held the office of the Sports Director of the German Basketball Federation. In this capacity, I participated in the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The time as an official has extremely sharpened my understanding of professional sports and the needs of athletes and now allows me to fully advise my clients. I know that there is a lot of need for advice and that this need is not always met. For me, holistic consulting does not only include the legal field, but in particular the topics of one's own presentation and marketing as well as precautionary measures and risk minimization. My own law firm LEUER-LAW offers me the opportunity to be there for my clients 24/7 and to use my experience and my network profitably for them.
